Betta fish are wonderful hardy fish for beginners. Since they generally do not get along with others of their kind they are often sold individually in little cups. Although they can live in shallow water and breathe surface air this is not a suitable living situation for the fish long term. They need a minimum of 2,5 gallon, filtered and heated aquarium in order to thrive. We therefor ask that Petsmart posts signs that clearly states that the cups the Betta fish are sold in are NOT SUITABLE as housing. Proper guidelines and Betta care should be displayed. It's the very least we can do! It's time to rethink how Betta Fish have been treated! Betta's deserve better!
