Stop this destructive development. It will increase traffic and pollution by opening up land for thousands more car dependent houses. The PR videos were totally misleading, no clue of the construction CHAOS for seven years or the increased congestion of cars from new estates. The consultations were completely bias. Questions were rigged for the desired result.
We will loose the unique biodiversity of our river, pollute our drinking water, contaminate our commercial aquifers, loose high-grade farmlands, heritage orchards, heritage parkland at Belmont, disrupt Belmont Abbey's peace and traquility, destroy homes and ruin lives. City health levels will deteriorate further without modern transport planning. All in the name of economic progress. It is certainly not progress if it hastens our demise.
The development plan hinged on thousands of new houses, many on a floodplain with shallow aquifers at Three Elms. This site is so unsuitable it would require giant land drains and thousands of tonnes of infill to raise the surface. It would increase flood risk just as climate change is accelerating.
It was designed for a bygone age when natural resources were considered limitless and planners were permitted to locate car dependent shopping centres in the middle of cities. It was planned without consideration of modern or mass public transport. It was designed by and for the profit of the global infrastructure groups not for the benefit of County residents. Stop the road building and make sustainable plans.
