After more than a year of planning, testing, and evaluation, body-worn cameras are now fully implemented at the Anderson Police Department.

During this process, APD monitored both state and federal grant postings for over six months in search of supplemental funding opportunities. When none were available, the Department moved forward to ensure our officers and Community Service Officers would have this important tool.

Chief Collins shared: “This week marks an important step forward for the Anderson Police Department. Our officers and Community Service Officers are now equipped with body-worn cameras. These cameras enhance transparency, strengthen community trust, and provide an additional layer of safety for both the public and our officers. We are committed to serving with integrity and professionalism.”

The addition of body-worn cameras provides a clear record of interactions, offering protection and clarity for both the community and our officers.
