It highlights two key events: candid public statements by Detective Inspector Graham Banks regarding youth violence, and Commander Wayne Cheeseman’s transparent briefing following a violent protest. These instances are praised for their honesty and departure from politically filtered messaging. 

The article argues that VicPol, under new Chief Commissioner Mike Bush, is moving toward a more proactive, prevention-focused approach to law enforcement. It criticises the Victorian Government’s proposed face-covering legislation as inadequate, advocating instead for equipping police with water cannons to manage violent protests and protect officers.
