PETITION TO STOP THE DEHUMANIZATION OF MIGRANTS ON MOJALOVE TV’S X-DEPORT

We, the undersigned, condemn the unethical and dehumanizing treatment of undocumented migrants on MojaLove TV’s show X-Deport, hosted by Zandile Dabula. While the issue of illegal immigration requires lawful and orderly resolution, no human being should be subjected to humiliation, cruelty, or the violation of their inherent dignity—regardless of their immigration status.

Our Concerns:

Dehumanization: The show’s format appears to exploit vulnerable individuals for entertainment, portraying them in a manner that incites public ridicule and stigma.
Violation of Human Rights: International law, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Article 1), affirms that all people deserve dignity and respect. South Africa’s Constitution (Section 10) also guarantees the right to dignity for everyone within its borders.
Public Incitement: Such programming risks normalizing xenophobia and violence against migrants, exacerbating tensions in South Africa’s social fabric.
Our Demands:

Immediate cancellation of X-Deport and accountability for MojaLove TV’s role in perpetuating harm.
Investigation by regulatory bodies (e.g., ICASA, SAHRC) into potential breaches of broadcasting codes and human rights standards.
A public apology from MojaLove TV to affected individuals and communities.
Commitment to ethical programming that does not exploit vulnerable groups for ratings.
We call on MojaLove TV, the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), and the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) to take urgent action.
