Hi all-

Susan Albright informed me that Wednesday's City Council meeting will feature the Water Meter debacle.  The meeting starts at 7PM.  I am actually flying into Logan at 6:15PM so I may be a bit late.  Please attend and represent!

A few points to emphasize:

• Why is Newton's water and sewer rates 41% higher than all other MWRA communities?  The Mayor said it was to repair the 320 miles of decrepit city pipes but all cities have their own capital infrastructure projects...
• Why are we being penalized for four years of mismanagement?  The water meter company went out of business and it took the city four years to get new water meters and now We are paying the penalty for the city's negligence.
• Where is this surplus going as the City already paid the MWRA over the past four years for the usage.

Water should be affordable, and the City needs to bear some of the responsibility financially for their inability to address this issue upfront.
