Today Philip and Sunny Chan demolished our beloved and historic Mid-Century Modern neighborhood church. Please please write/email/phone them to let them know your feelings about this devastating destruction to our community!
Sadly we will have to move on to the next part of the battle, preventing their 5-story high-density monstrosity from being built. It will tower over us, straining the neighborhood resources and filling our streets with parked cars and traffic, etc.
At our MAD Council (unincorporated Monrovia Arcadia Duarte) zoom meeting last month Anish Saraiya (email: asaraiya@bos.lacounty.gov) of Kathryn Barger's office agreed to have the neighborhood re-evaluated for traffic impact, since there are so many other high-density developments being finished and planned already in our community. And of course Center St. is incapable of being the entrance to a 73 unit apartment complex. If we can convince them of the massive traffic impact this and all the other developments will have on us, maybe we can bring down the scale of the Chan's project.
