Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to work in close coordination. Their mandate is to address critical issues plaguing the Hinjawadi IT Park area, including traffic congestion, flood management, and drinking water supply. The Chief Minister emphasized prioritizing the delivery of excellent services to citizens using available resources and directed the submission of a comprehensive master plan to ensure timely completion of projects and resolution of various problems.
CM Fadnavis made these statements during a meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan to discuss the myriad challenges faced by Hinjawadi IT Park. The meeting saw the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Ministers of State Madhuri Misal (Urban Development, Transport, Social Justice, Medical Education, Minority Development, and Wakf), MLAs Shankar Jagtap, Shankar Mandekar, Mahesh Landge, along with senior officials from various departments, and Hinjawadi residents.
Key Directives for Traffic and Infrastructure: CM Fadnavis highlighted that thousands of IT professionals and citizens are suffering due to the severe traffic congestion in Hinjawadi IT Park, which worsens during the rainy season. He called for immediate measures to expedite pending works related to roads, ring roads, flyovers, public transport, parking systems, and the metro. Specific directives included:
1. Road Separation: Separating the road from Kaspate Vasti to Hinjawadi Phase 3 to reduce congestion.
2. Cement Concrete Roads: Converting all roads in the area to cement concrete.
3. Mhalunge IT City: Swift approval of the Mhalunge IT City proposal.
4. Land Acquisition: Acquiring land for road widening by offering fair compensation and involving local representatives.
5. Hinjawadi Laxmi Chowk Elevated Road: Directing a decision within 15 days to widen the Hinjawadi elevated road to six lanes.
6. Prioritizing Road Widening and Public Transport The Chief Minister stressed giving priority to road widening projects in key areas:
7. Surya Hospital to Man Gaonthan, Mhalung to Hinjawadi Phase One, Shani Mandir Wakad to Marunji, Nande to Man

He also instructed the preparation of a plan for the Shivajinagar to Hinjawadi Corridor and the establishment of a public transport hub in the Wakad-Balewadi area to manage crowds and reduce road congestion. Both municipal corporations were urged to prioritize footpath issues, and land acquisition for Patil Vasti to Balewadi Road was directed to be completed within a month.
9. Flood Management and Coordination Chief Minister Fadnavis also directed proper planning for rainwater drainage and the installation of drainage lines. He instructed the Divisional Commissioner to coordinate and hold regular meetings for all ongoing projects.
10. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Emphasizes Metro Completion Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated that a robust public transport system is essential to alleviate congestion in Hinjawadi. He stressed the importance of timely metro project completion, directing that metro station works be finished by December.
11. Pawar also instructed MIDC, PMRDA, and the Metro authorities to coordinate closely to address challenges posed by metro landing impacting road space.
12. PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhase provided detailed information through a presentation during the meeting.
