Dear Saratoga Community,
The Saratoga Union School District is failing to ensure the safety, well-being, and trust of its students and families. Parents have raised serious concerns—including repeated physical harm, sexual assault, and lapses in volunteer clearance protocols—that have been dismissed, minimized, or ignored. One parent explicitly expressed fear of retaliation for speaking out, which was reinforced by public responses from district-affiliated organizations.
Leadership from the Redwood Middle School PTA and the Saratoga Education Foundation publicly dismissed or mischaracterized parent concerns, selectively promoting positive narratives while omitting critical issues. In particular, the PTA president criticized a respected community organization for advocating transparency and accountability, despite lacking full knowledge of the facts. These actions amplify confusion, erode trust, and misrepresent the realities faced by students and families.
We call on the district to take immediate action: conduct the full independent investigation, enforce robust safety protocols, hold personnel accountable, protect parents and staff from retaliation, and implement restorative measures for affected students and families. Our children deserve schools that build them up—not environments where they are harmed, silenced, or afraid. Families deserve honesty, accountability, and collaboration.
