SAVE THE FERRY CAMPAIGNUnited States
May 26, 2026

Thank you for continuing to stand with us in support of restoring the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry.

As the state budget is still being negotiated, we remain committed to championing the Governor and the MTA to reinstate full weekday commuter ferry service between Newburgh and Beacon. We are also working with NYSDOT on improving the visibility, marketing, route, etc for the shuttle service.

This past winter we've been advancing two other important priorities:

1) a pilot weekend ferry service. This is something that residents, visitors, and local businesses on both sides have consistently asked for. We are excited to share that the Orange County IDA has awarded a $100,000 pledge in support of launching this pilot program. This is extraordinary vision and leadership- thank you to all the board members!! Thank you to Orange County Tourism who came to speak on our behalf.  This is a major step forward and demonstrates growing confidence in the economic, tourism, and environmental benefits of ferry service in the Hudson Valley.

Casting the net wide!  To help make the pilot a reality, we are currently seeking matching funds from additional economic development, tourism, and environmental funding partners.

If your company or organization may be interested in supporting this effort, then we have a tax-deductible sponsorship packages to share with you. We are also looking for supporters willing to host small community fundraisers to help raise awareness and momentum for the campaign. If you are interested in either opportunity, please reach out to us. savetheferry.hv@gmail.com

2) We are proud to announce the publication of our new report, “Beacon Business Perspective,” which captures feedback from small businesses along Main Street regarding the ferry service. The report highlights a unified vision that ferry service would greatly benefit the local economy — increasing patronage to shops and restaurants while also helping alleviate congestion and parking pressures that affect both businesses and visitors.

We will presenting this at the upcoming Beacon City Council meeting- please email us to find out exact date/time at savetheferry.hv@gmail.com

A special and heartfelt thank you goes to Amanda Brown for her tremendous hard work on this important project.

Finally, our petition outreach efforts will continue this summer, beginning with the Strawberry Festival presented by the Beacon Sloop Club on Sunday, June 14, 2026. We hope you will stop by, help us raise awareness, and consider volunteering for a shift with Victoria.
