Happy New Years! We started off the year reminding people that the lack of ferry service is still an outstanding issue. Last week, Carson Carter was on WAMC Radio discussing the challenges commuters still face despite the expanded shuttle.
Take the Shuttle Survey!
As a follow up to this, we want to hear from hear from commuters of the shuttle: how is the new service? The survey aims to capture users feedback on schedule, route, visibility, and communication. Please take the survey here: https://tinyurl.com/NBSquestionnaire
Share the Op-Ed!
Yesterday, Streetsblog Empire State published an op-ed highlighting the serious consequences of discontinuing the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry. While cost and ridership challenges were cited, the loss of this service raises broader concerns about transit equity and connectivity for Hudson Valley communities west of the Hudson River. https://empire.streetsblog.org/newburgh-ferry-discontinued-depriving-hudson-valley-of-transit
Send a note to Assemblyman Jacobson!
We want to thank Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson who this morning showed his commitment to reviving the Newburgh Beacon Ferry by asking pointed questions to MTA Chair Janno Lieber. In addition, he is advocating for bringing back an electric ferry! Thank him here: jacobsj (at) nyassembly.gov We will share the video clip once posted here https://nyassembly.gov/av/session/
