The Lake City Attorney provides his opinion that Sylvester Warren III, a convicted felon of one of the largest drug bust in North Central Florida history, who has not received clemency after his release from federal prison, is ineligible to sit on the Planning and Zoning Board of Lake City City Council.  Warren III claims he is eligible because he is over 18, graduated from high school, and his mentor, Glennel Bowden, who was convicted of felony murder and became a staff member to former Congresswoman Corrine Brown (whose actions in office led to a felony conviction) and held both elected and appointed positions within the City Council of Lake City after his conviction of murder, confessing to smoking crack cocaine while holding office,  and without obtaining clemency, was able to so and vouches Warren should be allowed to do the same.

Despite the Constitution saying otherwise, citizens of Lake City now face elected officials Chevelle Young, Ricky Jernigan, Todd Sampson, and Jake Hill refusing to remove a person they voted to appoint despite legal advice and we must ask why?  Why is one man with No legal work experience, no construction certifications, and active criminal charges capable of even being considered and appointed despite the council rejecting the very same request in 2021?
