BC need real leadership like John Horgan
Hi everyone,
I would not recommend voting for the BC NDP under David Eby’s leadership in the October 24, 2026 provincial election.
As someone speaking out through my petition, I believe voters deserve accountability on affordability, disability support, healthcare, public safety, land rights, and election promises. News coverage and public reports since 2022 help explain my concerns.
Cost of living
In October 2022, Global News reported a 29% increase in Greater Vancouver food-bank use from 2021 to 2022. Global News
In December 2025, it reported that 24.4% of British Columbians experienced food insecurity, citing Food Banks BC. Global News
In my view, these reports show why affordability must remain a priority. People need to afford housing, groceries and basic necessities without relying on emergency assistance.
PWD assistance and support for 2027
On June 22, 2026, Disability Alliance BC reported that the support portion of disability assistance for individuals had not increased since 2021. It acknowledged a December 2025 increase for couples and called for assistance rates to be indexed to inflation. Disability Alliance BC
I am calling for a meaningful PWD increase in 2027, followed by annual cost-of-living adjustments. I am not claiming that a 2027 freeze has been confirmed—but leaving rates unchanged would be unacceptable to me. People with disabilities deserve dignity and financial security.
Healthcare
In January 2026, Global News reported a B.C. cancer patient’s concerns about delays in testing and treatment. Global News
In February 2026, it reported budget-related delays to seven long-term-care projects and Burnaby Hospital’s second phase. Global News
We need timely access to family doctors, specialists, emergency care and mental health services. I want clear timelines, adequate staffing and public accountability for improvements.
Crime and community safety
In July 2026, Global reported Kelowna safety concerns despite a 4.5% decline in its 2025 Crime Severity Index. Global News
That means it would be inaccurate to claim that all crime is increasing. Nevertheless, I want stronger action on violence, theft and repeat offending, alongside prevention, victim support, addiction treatment and mental health care. People deserve to feel safe in their communities.
Land and property rights
In October 2025, Global News reported concerns among Richmond property owners following the Cowichan title ruling. Global News
The province also appealed the decision. Global News
I want clear answers, meaningful consultation and responsible government communication about land and property rights. These issues require accuracy and transparency.
Election promises and public trust
In its June 2026 submission, Disability Alliance BC was still calling on the government to fulfil the BC NDP’s 2024 election promise to bring HandyDART into government operation. Disability Alliance BC
Unfulfilled commitments damage my confidence in government. Voters deserve a clear accounting of promises delivered, delayed or abandoned—not simply another round of campaign announcements.
For these reasons, I am asking voters not to vote for the BC NDP under David Eby’s leadership. In my view, the government has not done enough to earn continued support.
We deserve affordable necessities, adequate disability assistance, accessible healthcare, safer communities, respect for rights and a government that honours its commitments.
