Municipal Elections Matter

With municipal elections underway, I want to remind everyone who signed the petition that local councils can have a real impact on our access, our trails, our roads, our recreation, and whether municipalities are willing to speak up when public access is threatened.

I am also running for Mayor of Highlands East, and this is one of the many issues that led me to put my name forward.

Nearly 2,700 people signed because Crown land, hunting, fishing, trails, and our rural way of life matter.

Municipal councils may not control Crown land itself, but they can influence access, support or oppose restrictions, advocate to the Province, and make sure local users are heard.

So wherever you live, ask your candidates where they stand.

Public access deserves a voice at the table.
