On Asaase Radio, as part of a wider panel discussion, Ɔbenfo Ọbádélé Kambon connected reparatory justice directly to return and citizenship, saying that “part of the repair would be for us to be able to come back home.”

He also stressed that if Ghana is calling for reparations internationally, then “charity begins at home,” and that the process should ease the way home rather than put up more “hurdles and hoops.”

On I Never Knew TV, Ɔbenfo made the deeper issue plain: the Historic Diaspora must be seen as part of one people. He explained that reparative citizenship has been understood as: “This is reparations. This is self-reparations. This is restoration. This is you coming back home.”

He also explained why representation is essential: there must be real seats at the table for the constituency affected by these decisions.

That is why tomorrow’s Town Hall matters.

This is about whether the language of return will be matched by the practice of restoration.

This is about whether the Historic Diaspora will be treated as family returning home, or as foreigners being processed for revenue.

This is about whether the affected constituency will have real, constituency-mandated seats at the table.
