Petition updatePETITION TO PRESIDENT MAHAMA ON CITIZENSHIP AND REPRESENTATION FOR THE HISTORIC DIASPORAFinal Push: Only 73 Signatures Left to Reach 500
The Black Agenda GhanaAccra, Ghana
May 1, 2026

We are now at 427 supporters, and this petition is moving at a pace of over 100 signatures per day.

This issue is resonating.

Historic Diasporans, Ghanaians, residents, descendants of those displaced through enslavement, and supporters of reparative justice are making it clear that Ghana’s citizenship and inclusion framework must be fair, transparent, accessible, restorative, and representative.

We are only 73 signatures away from our next goal.

Every signature strengthens the call to:

  • Review and suspend the prohibitive GHS 25,000 citizenship application fee
  • Remove DNA as a blanket or default requirement
  • Ensure Historic Diasporans have real, constituency-mandated representation
  • Establish a clear, year-round citizenship pathway
  • Build a process grounded in reparative justice, not exclusion

Now we need one more push.
