Hello Patwin Supporters,

Here are the latest updates as we continue to push to keep two Kindergarten classes at Patwin:

1. We have a new Kindergarten/TK combo class! This is great news for Patwin as we now will have at least one Kindergarten, one TK, and one TK/K class. However, we really want:
2. TWO FULL Kindergarten classes! The district is willing to make two full Kindergarten classes if we can get enough kindergarteners to fill two classes. We need more kindergartners to get our class sizes up. This is our priority for students, teachers, and the future of Patwin. Let’s keep up our positive pressure by contacting the district and helping recruit students to Patwin!
3. We are also continuing to focus on asking the district to begin the process of redrawing school boundaries to make all neighborhood schools (including Patwin) fair and equal. 
    

OUR  NEXT UPCOMING EVENT
Please attend a meeting with Board of Education Vice-President, Joe DiNunzio today, 6/26, at 7:00 pm at Patwin Elementary in Room 20 (near the lunch tables). Joe was not at the board meeting on Thursday, so we need to repeat our points about recruitment and rezoning. Please also come with your questions and comments. You can attend this meeting in person (preferred), but it will also be available via Zoom.

Here are more ways to be involved:

• Recruit incoming TK and Kindergarten students to Patwin! (Please see the attached general recruitment flyer and here are the links for DJUSD enrollment: Intradistrict and Interdistrict Transfers - DJUSD and Enrollment - DJUSD)
• Spread our petition to friends, family, and community members. 835 signatures and counting!
• Continue to email the Board of Education (boe@djusd.net), Area 1 School Board Trustee Hiram Jackson (hjackson@djusd.net), Associate Superintendent of Student Support Services (who leads enrollment) Laura Juanitas (ljuanitas@djusd.net), Associate Superintendent Troy Allen (tallen@djusd.net), Superintendent Matt Best (mbest@djusd.net), and also Davis Vice Mayor and District 1 City Council Member, Bapu Vaitla (bvaitla@cityofdavis.org) with your questions, concerns, and ideas about this decision. 
   

Recent steps taken by the Patwin community:

• 30+ Patwin community members met with Board of Education Trustee, Hiram Jackson (Area 1 - West Davis) on 6/18
• 15+ Patwin community members attended the DIUSD Board of Education meeting on 6/20, and some Patwin community members made great public comments!
