I would like to share with you the e-mail I received from Fr. Jun Arvie Bello, Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of Cubao, on Tuesday 25 July 2017: Dear Pietro, The Bishop of Cubao has forwarded to our office your letter dated 7 November 2016 regarding the proposed cause for the beatification of the late Aurora Quezon. We appreciate your efforts on this matter. Allow me to provide you some guidelines for your proposal. In 2007, the Congregation for the Cause of Saints – the Vatican dicastery in charge of these matters promulgated Sanctorum Mater, Instruction for Conducting Diocesan and Eparchial Inquiries in the Causes of Saints. 1. It would be helpful that we understand first what the Cause for Beatification is about. The cause for beatification “regards a Catholic who in life, in death and after death has enjoyed a reputation of holiness by living all the Christian virtues in an heroic manner; or enjoys a reputation of martyrdom because, having followed Christ more closely, he has sacrificed his life in the act of martyrdom” (Sanctorum Mater, Art. 4 §1 – henceforth SM). In the case of Mrs. Quezon, your letter alludes that she has lived the Christian virtues. 2. This “reputation of holiness” is explained further as the “opinion that has spread among the faithful about the purity and integrity of life of the Servant of God and about the virtues practiced by him to an heroic degree” (SM, Art 5 §1). This is further enriched by the necessity of a “reputation of intercessory power” – that graces and favors have been received from God through the intercession of Mrs. Quezon. 3. Widespread “reputation of holiness” and widespread “reputation of intercessory power” are two criteria which a bishop consider – preliminarily – to decide whether it’s time to open a cause for beatification. As for the moment, based on the letter you have submitted to His Excellency, It might be premature to open a Cause for Beatification. We thank you for your efforts in making the goodness of Mrs. Aurora Quezon know – virtues of a woman who is truly Filipino and wholly Christian. God Bless. Respectfully, Fr. Jun Arvie Guerrero BELLO Judicial Vicar *** Based on Fr. Bello's response, we need to promote Mrs. Quezon's holiness and encourage people to pray to her. Moving forward, I would like to ask your help to satisfy these two criteria: 1. Reprint and distribute the Aurora Quezon booklet and prayer card. If you need copies of these, please send me an e-mail: pietroalbano@yahoo.com 2. Submit to me testimonies from people who may have known her. 3. Submit to me testimonies from people who have received special favors through her intercession. 4. Join other supporters/invite others by liking the FB page created in honor of Mrs. Quezon: https://www.facebook.com/groups/auroraaragonquezon/ 5. We need to have a core group in the Philippines who will coordinate our awareness drive, collect testimonies, communicate with the Diocese, etc. If you would like to volunteer, please contact me. Thank you in anticipation of your support. God bless us through Dona Aurora's intercession!
