More Spraying, Next Steps

Well, it's been a while since the last update. I just wanted to send out a message - we are not done.
VDOT has made it clear they will not stop the spraying. There are reports that the median on both Route 50 and Route 7 were sprayed late last night/early this morning- IN THE RAIN. What ever happened to mowing?!
The company that did the spraying by the river is Opterra Solutions, and apparently they fired the employee who sprayed along the river and onto people's property, beyond VDOT's right of way. VDACS is still investigating the matter and they're waiting for the samples to be tested. I will receive results of that investigation when it wraps up, which could be 6-8 weeks from now. The contracted company has made payments to affected property owners to replace landscaping and trees that were damaged, however this does not make up for the fact that people had their wells sprayed, their livestock sprayed, and the banks along the river are completely dead, risking runoff and erosion, beyond the possibility that the spray entered the river. VDOT says they are working on a plan to remediate the banks.
I believe in order to get lasting change, we need to take this to the state legislature. If this is happening here, it's happening across the state. We are risking water and soil degradation, as well as environmental and ecosystem damage when we manage our land like this. Please continue to share, statewide, and we can gather more signatures and send this all the way to the top and see if we can make a difference. Thank you.
