The week when VAR is used for the first time in UK is a good moment to close this petition and declare victory!
Retrospective punishment for diving has already been introduced, so the stated aim of this petition has been achieved. Nothing more can be achieved through lobbying of the FA. Thank you to every one of you for signing, adding comments and generally supporting this successful campaign.
However, there is much more to be done before we see the back of players diving and cheating on the field of play. I think a new approach and fresh start is required, so have joined forces with Enrique Quevedo to support his new #stopdiving campaign. A new petition has been launched this week aimed at the players of the Russia 2018 World Cup. The aim is to restore honour, honesty and good sportsmanship on the pitch. The message is a very positive one and is looking for fans to make their voices heard in the run up to the World Cup. Let's hope we see a big change in the players mindset and that Russia 2018 will be seen as a pivotal moment in the sport we love - one where players take pride in acting honestly and fans show their support for this changed behaviour while watching.
More details and links to the new petition can be found at the website www.stopdiving.org or #stopdivingorg on Twitter. I would really appreciate it if each one of you will sign again to support this growing movement for change.
Thank you!
