Your support showed just how many families care deeply about this issue.
Unfortunately, the original petition was not accepted by Parliament because it was not through the official website. It was disheartening, and it felt like so many voices weren’t being heard.

But this isn’t the end. We’re starting again, through the official channel this time — to make sure our voices are heard.

This petition began as a thought during my pregnancy, thinking about the time our children truly need, and became even more real after becoming a parent.

While I was fortunate to have more time with my baby, it made me realise how much more support families need, especially in that first year. We're forced to miss bonding, alter nourishing our babies from breastfeeding for those who wished to, speed up recovery, miss milestones amongst other things.
So instead of stopping, we’ve restarted the process through the official channel.

Because this is about:
- Our children’s wellbeing

- Mother's recovery

- Giving families the time they need

- Creating a more equal system for both parents
