Dear fellow Scarsdale residents,

It is now going on 4 months since the anonymous 'Comprehensive Technology Survey' was distributed via email last June by the Scarsdale Schools Technology Department to parents, students and faculty.  Numerous residents are wondering why after the summer that they have not received email notification regarding the full results of the Technology Survey at the start of this Fall school year.

According to recent PTA Newsletters, the Scarsdale Technology Department has scheduled a meeting for the Scarsdale community at the SMS Auditorium on Wednesday, November 8 at 7:30 pm regarding the 'Comprehensive Technology Survey' in which the Tech. Dept. states: "will share a selection of the survey results from the Technology Survey."  Why are the full results of the 'Comprehensive Technology Survey' being withheld?  Surveys or studies are not informative nor effective when just releasing a handpicked selection from them.

I am requesting from our fellow residents of the Scarsdale Board of Education, who pledged to our community that there would be more oversight and transparency in the future, to please now act on needed oversight and transparency concerning the anonymous "Comprehensive Technology Survey" conducted by the Technology Department.  Being parents, students and faculty who all initially received and took the time to complete the entire survey sent them via email from the Technology Department and now after 4 months have passed, all participants should be immediately emailed a copy of the full survey results.  It is long overdue.  Not everybody will be able to attend the Nov. 8 meeting.  I am also requesting that the BOE have access to the actual data collecting by the Technology Department to oversee the full results of this anonymous survey.

Our Scarsdale community has shown great concern regarding technology usage in our schools as demonstrated by the 700 petition signatories asking for learning options which most likely prompted the School District to distribute this technology survey.  Residents are entitled to receive those full survey results, not just "a selection of the survey results," so we are all permitted to make our own determinations.
