Many thanks to all who've emailed the appeal to Ireland's government NOT to license another season of horrific hare coursing cruelty. In recent days further outbreaks of the deadly RHD2 virus that kills hares and rabbits have been confirmed throughout Ireland.
Hare coursing is known to SPREAD the virus, so there's now an even stronger case for the government to refuse the license that permits this medieval blood sport. A decision on whether to permit a new coursing season is expected later this week...today is July 27th.
You can add your voice to this campaign by emailing a message to the Irish Government, requesting that the hare coursing license application be rejected on both animal welfare and disease control grounds and the hares left in peace.
You can use the following message or compose one of your own:
Attn: Government of Ireland
Dear Ministers,
With the RHD2 virus rampant in the Irish countryside, and hare coursing known to spread this disease that kills agonisingly, I call upon you to REFUSE the application from coursing clubs for permission to resume their use of hares as live bait in their cruel so-called "sport."
Thanking you,
