A rare opportunity has arisen to have the cruel practices of hare coursing and fox hunting banned in Ireland.
The Green Party, which is opposed to blood sports, is likely to form part of the incoming new government. It will, however, need to be hold fast against inevitable pressure from parties that favour animal cruelty posing as “sport.”
This where you can really help...by sending a message to Ireland’s Green Party, asking it to ensure that a ban on hare coursing and fox hunting will be included in the Programme for Government that it will agree with the other parties.
You can compose a letter, or use this sample message:
Attn: Mr. Eamon Ryan, Leader, Green Party; Ms Catherine Martin, Deputy Leader, Green Party.
I understand that your party is likely to enter government shortly and I appeal to you to have a ban on both hare coursing and fox hunting included in the Programme for Government, so that these extremely cruel practices will no longer taint the reputation of your country. Given the overwhelming evidence of animal cruelty in these so-called “sport” we urge you to prioritise their abolition in the coming weeks when the new government takes office.
Thanking you,
Sincerely, etc.

· Another boost to the campaign against blood sports in Ireland has been the launch of an excellent brief video by the National Animal Rights Association (NARA) highlighting exactly and simply why hare coursing must be banned. You can help the campaign by sharing the link to this video. Have a look:
