The Clonmel Park Hotel in County Tipperary is one of Ireland's finest hotels, with tourists from all over the world praising its facilities. But the damning spectre of animal cruelty now hangs over it since it began promoting, the cruel practice of live hare coursing on its official website. This appears under the heading "Clonmel Coursing Festival" in the "sporting events locally" section.

This is the "sport" that involves hares being set up as live bait for pairs of greyhounds in wired enclosures.

Hares are mauled, forcibly struck, or tossed about like broken toys at the coursing venues. Greyhounds are also injured in coursing, and many dogs are dumped or killed when they under-perform or their owners decide to be rid of them. Prior to coursng events small animals are fed LIVE to dogs to enhance their performance...rabbits, birds and stray or feral cats are the main victims because they cost the trainers nothing.

The largest hare coursing event in Ireland is held at Clonmel racecourse, not far from where the Clonmel Park Hotel stands. The hotel appears to believe it can profit from supporting this horrific blood sport.

Please ask the Clonmel Park Hotel to STOP promoting hare coursing on its website. A comment can be left on its Facebook page:

Here is a sample message, or you can compose your own:

"...I have heard that you promote the cruel "sport" of hare coursing on your website. For the sake of the animals that suffer in this vile practice, and for the sake of your hotel's reputation and credibilty, I ask you to cease that ill-conceived promotion. A hotel that actively seeks to support such horrific animal cruelty can expect cancellations and even boycotts..."
