RTE, Ireland's national TV station, has carried a report on the "National Hare Coursing Festival" event on the sports section of its main news broadcast of the day for Tuesday February 5th.

The report completely ignored the proven horrific animal cruelty that is an intregral part of this blood sport, featuring only interviews with hare coursing fans. No opponent of hare coursing was interviewed.

The coursing fans interviewed were allowed to praise the practice (which involves the capture of wild hares and their use as live bait for greyhounds) and no effort was made to press them on the cruelty issue.

So I'm appealing to you to please, time permitting, send a brief message to RTE asking the station NOT to promote hare coursing in future broadcasts and calling on RTE to instead properly investigate and EXPOSE the cruel practice of hare coursing in Ireland:

You can write a letter, or send an email. RTE depends on people to pay a TV license fee to subsidise its broadcasting and therefore cannot afford to ignore our concerns and objections on this issue.
