The prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel in Limerick City, Ireland is to host the so-called “Irish Coursing Club Awards” on April 14th. Hare coursers will be treated to a lavish banquet and will then be presented with cheques and trophies in recognition of their commitment to this barbaric blood sport. Irish animal protection groups are lobbying the hotel to withdraw its support from the event and NOT to host any function that seeks to promote or facilitate the cruel practice of hare coursing. If you have time, you might post a brief message on the hotel chain’s Facebook page, asking it to cancel the hare coursing awards event. Alternatively, you could contact the Radisson Blu Hotel branch nearest to you and make your objections known. Radisson Blu needs to be made aware of the widespread opposition to hare coursing in Ireland and worldwide, and that it risks alienating potential guests by associating its name and reputation with a practice that is a serious criminal offence in most of the countries that once allowed it.
