Thanks to everyone who signed the petition to Ireland's Health Service. Your voices have been heard! The hare coursing and greyhound training project has ceased at the training centre and the Health Service Executive has issed a statement declaring that hare coursing is "not an appropriate leisure activity to provide or fund as a social care provider." This a welcome development, especially in view of the fact that one of the greyhound trainers at the centre had dogs seized from him in the past. The information appeared on a greyhound racing promotional website. The dogs were found in an "emaciated condition" and a state of deadful neglect. The man concerned should not be in charge of dogs in any context, let alone at a training centre run and funded by the HSE. Thankfully the matter has now been resolved and the centre will not be supporting or facilitating any such inappropriate project in the future.
