UPDATE:

The county commission at St. John’s County had a agenda presentation on May 19, 2026 where Greg Caldwell from the county Public Works department outlined the trail, the History and an update of possible design changes to the trail based on public feedback. Two items of importance: one was they are proposing to reduce the width of the bi-directional trail from 12 feet to 10 feet. Secondly, they are proposing to use that 2 feet trail reduction to provide a 2 foot grasp buffer Directly west of the trail. Because this was a County Commission presentation there was no vote taken. The final design and alignment is required to be submitted by the County to the state of Florida DOT by June 30, 2026.
