[STATEMENT] Why the "Too Niche" Excuse Fails Every Test of Logic, Accessibility, and Respect?

To Everyone Supporting This Campaign,
We are pushing past our next milestone, and it is time to call out the corporate narrative surrounding Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth for exactly what it is: completely out of touch with reality.
For years, the excuse for leaving Persona Q2 trapped on a dead handheld without an English dub was that it was "too niche" to justify the development costs. But when you look at the facts, that excuse completely crumbles. We are demanding a modern remaster with a full English voice track because Atlus's original decision failed our community on three fundamental levels:
- It Was Completely Blind to Development Reality: Persona Q2 launched in the West in June 2019—right when Persona 5 was a global mainstream phenomenon and Joker had just joined Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Atlus was already renting studio time and paying the English voice cast to record massive amounts of dialogue for Persona 5 Royal and Persona 5 Strikers. The cast was fully assembled. The engine was already paid for. Refusing to record a dub for PQ2wasn't a matter of budget or availability; it was a deliberate, short-sighted choice to starve a game starring the most hyped characters in modern JRPG history.
- It Is Incredibly Ableist: Leaving a narrative-driven, text-heavy game completely un-dubbed creates a massive accessibility barrier that locks vulnerable fans out of the experience. Expecting players with dyslexia, low vision, visual tracking difficulties, or auditory processing disorders to squint at fast-moving, highly stylized subtitles on a tiny 3DS screen is physically exhausting and exclusionary. Voice acting is not a luxury premium—it is a fundamental accessibility standard. By cutting the English audio, Atlus chose to alienate disabled fans who rely on spoken dialogue to connect with the characters they love.
- It Treats the Western Fanbase as Secondary Customers: The Western fanbase is exactly what launched Persona into the multi-million-selling stratosphere. Yet, Atlus treated the West like second-class citizens who should just be grateful for scraps. They demanded a premium price tag for a structurally downgraded product compared to the fully voiced Japanese release. Pushing an un-dubbed game onto a dead console right as Western players were driving the franchise's global economy proved that corporate leadership viewed us as an afterthought rather than equal partners.
✊ What We Are Demanding Now
The precedent has already been set. Atlus successfully brought the Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection to modern consoles and PC, proving that the dual-screen mapping mechanics can be beautifully adapted to modern hardware. The technical excuses are gone.
We are not asking for a favor; we are demanding that Atlus rectifies a massive structural misstep. We want a complete modern remaster of the Persona Q duology with a fully voiced English dub that gives this cast, and this community, the accessibility and respect we deserve.
