Dear Supporters,
We want to provide a brief update on our ongoing efforts to hold Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) accountable for their unauthorized transactions and negligence in handling our accounts.
In October 2013, GTBank unilaterally converted $250,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars) from our Dollar Domiciliary Account to our Naira Savings Account without our consent. They applied a fraudulent exchange rate, resulting in a loss of ₦625,000 (Six Hundred and Twenty-Five Thousand Naira). Despite our repeated protests and demands for rectification, GTBank has refused to address this injustice.
This case is not just about us—it’s about holding financial institutions accountable for their actions and ensuring that ordinary customers are not left helpless when banks fail in their duties. GTBank’s actions reflect a broader pattern of negligence and lack of accountability in the banking sector, and we are determined to fight for justice.
Why This Matters
Accountability: Banks must be held accountable for unauthorized transactions and negligence.
Transparency: Customers deserve clear communication and fair treatment from financial institutions.
Justice: No one should suffer financial harm due to the unethical practices of a bank.
Our Next Steps
We are reaching out to GTBank’s U.S. correspondent banks (e.g., Citibank, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America) to urge them to pressure GTBank to resolve our case and ensure ethical banking practices. We are also exploring all legal and public avenues to amplify our voice and demand justice.
