PETITION FOR STRONGER CLIMATE ACTION IN THE PHILIPPINES
The Issue
We, the students and concerned citizens of the Philippines, believe that climate change is an urgent issue that affects our communities, environment, health, education, and future.
The Philippines faces serious climate-related risks such as stronger typhoons, flooding, extreme heat, drought, and rising sea levels. These problems can damage homes, schools, farms, roads, and livelihoods. Students are also affected when classes are suspended, schools are damaged, or communities struggle after disasters.
We call on our government, schools, businesses, and communities to take stronger action against climate change. We encourage the proper protection of forests, mangroves, and coastal areas, better waste management, cleaner sources of energy, and stronger disaster preparedness.
Climate action should also be part of education. Students should learn how climate change affects the Philippines and what they can do to help protect their communities. Schools can support tree planting, waste reduction, recycling, energy conservation, and other environmental activities.
We believe that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. Small actions can help, but stronger policies and long-term action are also needed to protect vulnerable communities.
Through this petition, we call for stronger and more consistent climate action in the Philippines. We ask leaders and institutions to prioritize environmental protection, climate education, disaster preparedness, and sustainable development.
We call for action today to protect the Philippines and create a safer and more sustainable future for the next generation.
