Petition for New Leadership at the Mi istry of ICT Namibia
The Issue

We, the undersigned ICT professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators, creators, developers, students, and concerned citizens of Namibia, call for a review of the leadership of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and the appointment of leadership capable of delivering measurable outcomes for Namibia's digital future.
This petition is not about personalities. It is about accountability, performance, and the future competitiveness of Namibia in an increasingly digital world.
For years, Namibians have heard speeches about digital transformation, innovation, youth empowerment, connectivity, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. We have attended summits, watched conferences, read press releases, and celebrated announcements. Yet many of the fundamental challenges facing Namibia's ICT sector remain unresolved.
Among our concerns are:
• Persistent internet reliability and connectivity challenges affecting businesses and consumers.
• Continued digital divides between urban and rural communities.
• Insufficient support for local ICT startups, developers, innovators, and technology entrepreneurs.
• Limited progress in creating a thriving digital economy capable of competing regionally and globally.
• Lack of a clear and aggressive national strategy for Artificial Intelligence, emerging technologies, and digital skills development.
• Ongoing cybersecurity concerns and inadequate public awareness initiatives.
• Limited opportunities for Namibian content creators, digital entrepreneurs, and online businesses to fully participate in the global digital marketplace.
• A perception that public relations activities, conferences, and ceremonial events have become more visible than measurable sector-wide outcomes.
Namibia cannot afford to fall behind while other nations invest heavily in AI, digital infrastructure, innovation ecosystems, cybersecurity, and technology-driven economic growth.
We believe the ICT sector should be led by individuals who can demonstrate:
✓ Strong technical understanding of the digital economy.
✓ Measurable delivery and implementation capacity.
✓ Clear and transparent performance indicators.
✓ Commitment to supporting innovators, startups, and entrepreneurs.
✓ A vision for positioning Namibia as a competitive digital nation.
✓ Accountability to the citizens and industries affected by ICT policies and decisions.
This petition calls upon the President of the Republic of Namibia, Parliament, and relevant authorities to conduct a comprehensive review of the leadership and performance of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and to ensure that Namibia's ICT sector is guided by leaders capable of delivering tangible results.
The future of Namibia's economy, youth, innovation ecosystem, and global competitiveness depends on decisive action today.
We demand results, not slogans.
We demand implementation, not endless announcements.
We demand leadership that matches the urgency of the digital age.
Sign this petition if you believe Namibia deserves better digital leadership and a stronger ICT future.
