The Redbone classic “Come and Get Your Love” was actually written by Don Barris. 

Lolly Vegas (Pat’s Brother) was involved with a beautiful singer at the time who had the hots for Don. (Can you blame her?) 

Their love was not meant to be, however, as Lolly’s girl was pregnant with their daughter. 

(That daughter is now a singer in Las Vegas. I went to cosmetology school with her.)

So Don had written on a cocktail napkin “come get love” to Lolly’s (unnoticeably) pregnant girlfriend. Lolly  Vegas saw the napkin, punched Don in the face, then bought him a drink because the Vegas boys know genius when they see it. 

“Come and Get Your Love” was written that night. 

Don Barris is not credited on any ‘Redbone’ albums due to Lolly’s own personal reasons.
