Over the past week, I've held fruitful discussions with Ricard Serino (rserino@revere.org) and Jessica Giannino (Jessica.Giannino@mahouse.gov). I have laid out my views on the superior effectiveness of proactive engineer controls over reactive police enforcement. The evidence indicates that these measures work tirelessly round the clock, freeing up police resources for more pressing issues, providing an impressive return on investment, and drastically reducing existing problems.
One of the solutions I suggested includes installing speed bumps at every crosswalk on Malden St, and Newhall St. Richard, in turn, proposed a 3-way stop sign at Vinny's market and immediate police enforcement. Jessica has confirmed that she's closely collaborating with Richard on this issue.
Following a visit to Vinny's market, the sentiment is clear: the community has waited far too long for these changes. The mother of a recent accident victim visited me last week to voice her concerns. I extended an invitation to Jessica and Richard for a walk-through from my house to theirs, with a stop at Vinny's market to understand the ground realities better.
Furthermore, I've advised them to consult with crossing guards, accident victims, and local residents. By doing so, they can gather valuable insights on preferred solutions and the community's expectations.
