The Issue

Justice Delayed Is Justice Denied

For nearly 27 years, Gregory Johnson has remained incarcerated while serious questions about the reliability of the evidence used to convict him have emerged. We respectfully call upon the appropriate authorities to conduct a thorough, independent review of his case in the interest of justice.

This petition is not a request for special treatment. It is a request for a fair examination of documented evidence that deserves careful consideration.

Among the concerns raised are:

Two key witnesses later signed sworn affidavits recanting their trial testimony.

Those witnesses stated that their original statements were false and alleged they were pressured or coerced during the investigation.

These sworn recantations raise significant questions about the reliability of the testimony presented to the jury.

The case has been submitted for review to organizations dedicated to investigating wrongful convictions.

When credible evidence calls into question the integrity of a conviction, justice requires that those concerns be fully examined. Public confidence in the criminal justice system depends not only on holding guilty individuals accountable, but also on correcting wrongful convictions when new evidence comes to light.

We respectfully ask the appropriate prosecutors, innocence organizations, legal authorities, and elected officials to carefully review all available evidence, including the sworn witness affidavits and any additional evidence supporting Gregory Johnson's claim of innocence.

Justice is not weakened by reviewing a conviction. Justice is strengthened when the truth is pursued wherever it leads.

If you believe every person deserves a fair review when credible new evidence emerges, please add your name to this petition and help us seek justice for Gregory Johnson.

Justice should never depend on how much time has passed—it should depend on the truth.

I also recommend including copies of the witness affidavits, court records, or other public documents on the petition page if you're comfortable doing so. That allows people to review the evidence for themselves rather than relying only on a summary.
