This week, the ICAC’s Operation Landan has brought to light serious allegations involving School Infrastructure NSW (SINSW), including potential misconduct by former CEO Anthony Manning and senior staff. These include improper recruitment practices, the awarding of millions in contracts to personal associates, and the manipulation of student data to justify funding decisions.

But the concerns don’t end there.

Testimony from senior departmental figures has revealed that these issues may not be isolated to SINSW alone. Evidence presented to ICAC suggests that questionable practices—including inflated enrolment forecasts, misallocation of public funds, and a lack of financial transparency—may extend more broadly within the Department of Education.

If public money has been misused, or if systemic governance failures exist across the department, then the public has a right to know. Parents, teachers, and students deserve full transparency and accountability.
