Hello! Our campaign has had some success so far - inspiring the Town of BV to to pass a new ordinance requiring Sangre de Cristo Electric Association (SDCEA) to get permits before the mass tree removal project can begin. We celebrate this BUT sadly, this new law ONLY applies to trees on public property (about 3% of all trees affected). It does not protect homeowners or trees on private property from SDCEA's unnecessary overreach. 

We'll be getting in touch again this week to tell you how you can participate in the vitally important new action we are launching to bring common sense and good stewardship to this situation.

ps. We want to make it super clear that we are not opposed to removal of hazardous trees, or trimming by a skilled arborist where needed, & we certainly support private property owners doing what they want with their own trees, but such an extreme action as Sangre cutting down ALL of the trees in 30’ or more wide strips along 18 miles of transmission lines in BV is an absurdly extreme action for no purpose.
