The week following Easter a strong storm with hurricane level winds and rain destroyed the roof of St. Michael's Church. As you know St. Michael's Church is interconnected and shares a roof, common entrances, walls, and basements with St. Michael's Loft-the classrooms above the Church- and Dante Hall and the Franciscan Convent.

Fr. Jon has notified the SMCPS that the roof was completely destroyed and there is water damage in the Loft classrooms, stairwells, and ceiling paintings in the Church. See photos below. The Parish of St. Monica's is in the process of assessing damages and filing insurance claims with the Diocesan Self Insurance Program.

The SMCPS will be monitoring the situation carefully and will be sure that any damage to the Church, Dante Hall, Loft, and Rectory is repaired. We also want to be sure that the entire property is maintained to prevent any future problems. We will keep you updated.

In the meantime this is a good time to consider making a donation (see below) to the SMCPS for the continued preservation, maintenance, and use of St. Michael's Church & Campus.
