Feast of the Three Kings to be Reenacted at St. Michael's Church Sat. Jan. 13

Due to the last week’s storm the Feast of the Epiphany will now be celebrated one week later at St. Michaels Church. Come experience an Italian and Spanish Tradition that is hundreds of years old. This festival is usually scheduled to be celebrated 12 days after Christmas on 6th January and is the time when Christians remember the Wise Men visiting Jesus. Epiphany is also when some Churches remember when Jesus was baptized. Epiphany means 'revelation' and both the visit of the Wise Men and his Baptism are important times when Jesus was 'revealed' to the world. In Italy, some children also get their presents on Epiphany. But they believe that an old lady called 'Befana' brings them. Children put stockings up by the fireplace for Befana to fill. The festival at St. Michael’s Church is greatly influenced by the Spanish Tradition and has become an especially big and important. Like in Italy it is when Spanish children receive their presents - delivered by the Three Kings!
