A quick update on the past few weeks.
A small team met with the proponent last week (virtually of course) to discuss many of the concerns that have been raised over the past few months with this proposal. While this was a useful meeting, we stated this in no way took the place of an open public forum and have requested such a meeting as soon as the virus situation clears and will allow in person meetings again.
During the discussion a number of questions came up and the proponent suggested to our MPP Vijay, to extend the deadline for submissions to the Environmental Ministry for ECA's 019-1444/019-1446 for another month. This has now been granted and responses are still open for the following two environmental approvals. Please submit your comments here:
In the meantime, the proponent has agreed to have a traffic study completed and will have the results by mid July. Jennifer McKelvie (Ward councillor) has also put in a request to have City Council request a traffic assessment be included in the evaluation of the ECA's at the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks.
We still have a long way to go if we are going to stop this project from being in our neighbourhood so what we now need help with is:
We ask that you write to the Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks - Hon. Jeff Yurek | Minister | 416-314-6790 | minister.mecp@ontario.ca
Please request that the proponent be required to complete an REA (Renewable Energy Approval) this would be in addition to the ECA's they already have applications being evaluated. The REA is a process more tailored for assessing this type of project (after all this proposal is a renewable energy project that creates Renewable Natural Gas), and the impact on the local community is considered more important in this REA assessment approval.
We also recommend you copy our
MPP, Vijay Thanigasalam, vijay.thanigasalam@pc.ola.org
and our
Premier, Doug Ford, doug.fordco@pc.ola.org
Thanks to everyone for getting the word out, please let your neighbours know the situation and ensure they are helping by sending emails and signing this petition.
Finally, the proponent does have a website where you can send your comments directly to them if you wish. That website is:

Thanks - will send another update in the next few weeks. Steve
