Thank you to all who have signed and supported the petition to date. We have reached 118 signatures in just one day.

We've been successful getting Council's attention and ensuring it won't be a unanimous vote. I suspect if Councillor DeFrancesca maintains her support the Langstaff CIHA may pass. Please email your concerns directly - rosanna.defrancesca@vaughan.ca

The CIHA request just outside the VMC did not garner as much opposition. I am opposed to the planning process and think it's nonsensical that any responsible politician would support using a planning tool that forces TRCA to give permits under duress in a floodplain.

Please continue to share and grow support and/or email Vaughan Council, Minister Tibollo and Minister Calandra directly - council@vaughan.ca, michael.tibolloco@pc.ola.org, paul.calandraco@pc.ola.org

I was surprised to read this apology given by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to the development community in Woodbridge. While this isn't Greenbelt it is still a controversial planning process. If it's endorsed by Vaughan Council then subsequently approved by Minister Calandra the apology is meaningless and they've learned nothing.

"I think the failures that have happened over the last number of months aren't a failing of your industry," Calandra said Dec. 6 at the Building Industry and Land Development Association’s (BILD) annual general meeting luncheon in Woodbridge.
"It's a failing of government — as how we have put together the things that we have wanted to accomplish," he said, conceding the Tories only have themselves to blame.
"The speed at which we moved — and the inability of us to bring people with us — is what has caused the challenges over the last number of months and we will not repeat those mistakes going forward."

Hopefully, Vaughan Council comes to their senses. It looks like a packed agenda but for those who want to tune in Council can be watched here starting at 1pm: https://www.vaughan.ca/council/live-council-broadcast

Thank you again,
Irene
