As we watch the ball drop tonight, let’s celebrate achieving 1000 signatures on our new petition. 

How do we get there? If each of us find one person who is willing to sign the petition between now and then, we’ll easily pass 1000.

Who can you ask that hasn’t signed yet? A spouse, a student, a family member, a friend, a neighbor, a community member?

Asking people to sign will help make the community a better place. 

Think about it. Some big ticket items that kids asked for over the holidays included $100-$300 gifts. Some could not afford these and some families with access to more resources chipped in to buy some of these with Angel Trees and other community efforts to spread joy. 

What does it cost to get to school if you don’t have a ride? A parent without a car in Howard County described to us that she recently paid $50 for two round trip Uber rides to/from her home after her elementary student lost school bus service and she couldn’t supervise a walk to school. That covered one day of service.

Multiply $50 times every day of a 180-day school year. That’s $9000.

Returning school bus service to children who were cut in Howard County would be a huge gift.
