The Kiltimagh petition to Mayo county council for the greenway to receive equal standing as the velo-rail project has hit new heights. Due to be closed off on Monday 10th, there was a late surge in signatures it now stands at 749 supporters with massive support in county Mayo and from the Kiltimagh area. We have decided to leave it open until Easter, after which it will be closed off and presented to the council. We hope Mayo county council are finally getting the message having ignored 284 submissions on the county plan asking for a greenway back in 2013. Although that is history; history shapes us, and bureaucrats in county councils need to be told that spitting on democracy is not acceptable. So please keep encouraging others to sign the petitiion and if we can squeeze out a few more signatures who knows what number we will hit. The message is getting through, remember every signature generates emails to the county manager, the county planner, all four Mayo TDs and The Minister of Transport, they know what the public want and are asking for.
