4,000 Animals will die in Mexico, It's URGENT to create a sanctuary or encourage People, Parks, Associations and Zoos to adopt them.

Le problème

Hello,
This is and urgent call to save over more than 4 000 animals, Zebras, bears, giraffes, camels, even endangered species like Elephants and Bengal and Siberian Tigers, among others.
A new law in Mexico forbidden animals in the circus, which seemed like a great initiative at first.

Unfortunately Aldo Ismael Muñoz Torres (National Coordinator of the campaign "Circus Without Animals" ) et Jose Maria Ferez Gil (Spokeman of AnimalHeroes) for Civil association Anima Naturalis pro-pulsated this campaign, along with the Mexican green party (PVEM), giving a lot of big promises and poor results.

Jose Maria Ferez Gil interview

Sadly we realize now the real motivation behind this initiative is far from a genuine interest for the welfare of circus animals and animals in general and rather a Marketing strategy to get more votes.

This Animals are now caught in the middle, stocked like old cars in the junkyard, waiting for dead, since circuses are going bankrupt and they "cannot" assure the food and healthcare for their animals or maybe because they don't want to, since animals mean no longer a good profit to their owners. In any of this cases, if we citizens don't do something fast 4,000 animals will perish in awful conditions, 40 of them already died and nobody seems to take care of the situation.

Some links about the subject:

Graveyard for circuses

Mexico in a desperate quest to find a home for thousands of circus animals

Tuesday 17 march i decided to write to Anima Naturalis Mexico to ask them how where they dealing with this situation and how would they accomplish all the promises of their campaign. Surprisingly, this is the answer i got:

Quote:

Anima Naturalis;

"Good evening, Jose María Férez is no longer part of Anima Naturalis Mexico, but he was not the coordinator of the campaign Circus Without Animals.

Our organization promoted the ban on the use of animals in circuses without being by no means responsible for the fate of animals.

When the federal law takes effect in July this year, Circus Businessman, who are legally owners of this animals will have the option to donate them to sanctuaries and rehabilitation centers as BioParque Coex1istence of Pachuca, or keep them.

Does not correspond to our organization dealing directly for the fate of the animals, as there are government entities that must and can take care of it."

Best regards.

So I ask Mister Antonio Franyuti Vidal (Director of Anima Naturalis Mexico), Why on earth a civil association for animal defense would pro-pulsate the initiative of an incomplete law, that cannot assure the welfare of animals at the end?

What's the difference between suffering and maybe dying on circus and suffering and certainly dying of starvation on a dusty junkyard?

Why saying you are working to convert Zoos in Sanctuaries to adopt this circus animals and mention Asylums and Refuges in USA are interested and then say that the fate of this animal are not your responsibility?

Here an interview of Aldo Ismael Muñoz Torres on a local Newspaper:

Aldo Ismael Muñoz Torres informs that at least 5 Zoos are interested to become sanctuaries to adopt circus animals

Where are NOW those Zoos that offered them selves as Sanctuaries and refuges to adopt animals?

I can't just sit and keep going wile all those beautiful animals are dying of starvation in some dusty fields, while those how created this initiative of law keep make of this problem a hot potato!

So i launched this petition with the hope to get support to open a Sanctuary for this animals or to encourage, Parks, Associations, Zoos and people from all over the world to adopt this animals, before they all die.

And lets put some pressure on Mexican government authorities to give solutions and think twice when it comes to launching initiatives.

Please send messages by facebook or twitter to:

Jesus Sesma (President of the Environmental Commission of the Legislative Assembly of DF), Juan Jose Guerra Abud (Secretairy of SEMARNAT), Gillermo Javier Haro Belchez (Attorney of (PROFEPA) to assure the welfare of this animals.

Also to those who pro-pulsate this initiative of law to be responsible of it and keep their promises; Green party of mexico (PVEM) and Anima Naturalis Mexico,Antonio Franyuti Vidal, Jose Maria Perez Gil and Aldo Ismael Muñoz Torres.

This poor creatures have already suffered enough, i hope this petition gets to your hearth.
Please share it around you!
