End the mistreatment of double humped camels in Nubra Valley, Ladakh

Recently I visited a beautiful place called Nubra Valley in Ladakh, India. I understand that a lot of the tourism in that area revolves around the famous double-humped camels. People ride these camels all day long as a form of entertainment. However, I was very shocked to see the conditions these camels were being subjected to. The camels, which were all tied together with a rope, were given little to no rest and were working throughout the day. The baby camels were crying for their parents, and people were manhandling these camels resulting in a lot of them crying due to pain and agitation. Furthermore, they were not being fed properly and were possibly being given steroids (we saw a drip sort of medicine).
I understand the hype for this attraction, however, my experience indicated this to be a form of animal cruelty. It would be really great to see a change in the conditions of these helpless camels.
