13 February 2015 Honourable Colin Barnett MEc MLA Premier of Western Australian 24th Floor, Governor Stirling Tower, 197 St Georges Terrace PERTH WA 6000 Telephone: (08) 6552-5000 Fax: (08) 6552-5001 e-Mail: wa-government@dpc.wa.gov.au Your ref: 24-123100/HD Re: Crown Casino Security Guards. Dear Premier Barnett, Yesterday my case involving the Perth Crown Casino and your refusal to act on this matter was featured on 6PR Drive Time with Mr Adam Shand. The public response was overwhelming. It shows that it is in the public interest to prosecute the two security guards involved. Your request, echoing the Police’s request for more evidence is a clear display of what the Police’s own senior solicitor described “as a clear and lack of understanding by the police and the security guards of the parameters surrounding the Casino Control Act.” It is ironic that you pointed out this lack of understanding yourself. Unequivocally supporting the Police’s Solicitor is the Parliamentary Inspectors to the Crime and Corruption Commission Hon Michael Murray QC’s comments “It appears to me that s 26 is not applicable to your case. In addition, I cannot see that any provision in the Criminal Investigation Act 2006 (WA) would be likely to provide Messrs Ross and Gungor with a defence to a charge of assaulting you.” The Parliamentary Inspector’s opinion supports Magistrate Lawrence who says “He was unlawfully assaulted by Ross who was assisted by Gungor” These comments are independently supported by Barrister Linda Black QC. The police’s opinion is contrary to all other opinions on this matter. Your lack of support for the Western Australian Judicial System is a clear betrayal of public trust. The 110 000 views of this assault of myself by Casino Security guards shows that casino security violence is clearly in the public interest. I am not asking for special treatment, rather the same treatment police gave to me, that the security guards face the facts and the courts. I once again ask that you review your position and support Magistrate Lawrence’s call for a further investigation into those security guards. I look forward to your reply, Yours sincerely, Greg Haig.
