How will this affect the local economy if this one tiny little cafe stays open ? Well here is how in a short but frank explanation... firstly the couple who run the business will clearly benefit. Thats 2 people And dont forget their kids will get an extra treat im sure...... then lets assume they normally hire 1 staff member per day.. during the event they decide they want 3/4 per day so thats another 6/8 people... now each of them new staff have such a great day they decide to go to the local pub and buy a beer for their mates the round costs £20. that goes to the landlord who also employs staff so maybe another few people. Due to the busy period the cafe has to order some more produce from a local supplier who then has a slight increase in sales himself which increases the demand from the supplier. At the end the cafe may have such a good trade they decide to invest a few extra quid in the property and get the local guy and his apprentice in to assist with the decoration... This is all of course hypothetical and may never happen but look on the flip side at what will happen for sure:
Out of town traders will turn up and pay the BBC a fee. The BBC keep that fee for their company cars and corporate events. the traders come here fully staffed and stocked from lands far and wide... They take the money, pack up on Monday and good bye Norwich and any extra money that goes with it. They will use their usual suppliers close to home, their usual staff from wherever they are, they wont contribute to Norfolk at all.
