Petition and lawsuit against Pepperdine for discrimination against LGBT athletes

Layana White and Haley Videckis have filed a lawsuit and started a petition against Pepperdine for discriminating against them on the basis of sexual orientation. According to their complaint, Coach Ryan Weisenberg allegedly harassed the couple, both of whom were on the women's basketball team, for months when he suspected that they were in a lesbian relationship. The complaint indicates that he singled them out by requested their gynecology records and that he made discriminatory announcements to the team, including: "Lesbianism is not tolerated on this team. It is why teams lose. Lesbianism is a big concern in women’s basketball."
