Stop Wag!'s animal neglect

The Issue

Wag! has had it’s number of scandals throughout their time in operation, it’s almost hard to believe they are still up and running. Over the past few years, Wag! has struggled to maintain its success, with many horror stories of dogs being terribly mistreated, even lost by Wag! dog walkers. Their reviews speak for themselves, with only a 1.5 star rating on yelp, this company appears to be quickly taking a turn for the worse, following in the steps of Softbanks other investments.. As mentioned in an article by CNN, “Wag has had at least five allegations made public of dogs being abused or dying in its care in the past year. The company didn't directly address CNN Business' questions about safety incidents in its statement but in response to a recent incident, Wag said that it cares "very deeply about the health and safety of the dogs walked on our platform." New negative allegations from concerned pet owners rise against Wag! daily. One Yelp reviewer writes: “This company is completely unprofessional.  My daughter tried to use this service for her dog during her busy work day.  They frequently show up late, or worse, would call stating they could not use the lock key box, although sending a second person later in the day would result in successful entry. This created much anxiety for the dog hearing all the noise at the door and the owner.  The "dog walker" they sent yesterday let the dog out of the house, without a leash or collar. Left the door wide open.   The search lasted 6 hours, before she was thankfully found.  Do not use this agency, your pets will be in danger.” Stories of lost dogs surface daily, hurting their reputation even more. Here, https://nypost.com/2018/05/14/embattled-dog-walking-app-loses-yet-another-dog/ a Harlem resident claimed a Wag! employee lost her dog on a walk. Here, https://people.com/pets/dog-dies-wag-walk-couple-claims-cover-up/ a couple claims that after their dog died under the attention of a Wag! walker, the company attempted to buy their silence in hopes of sparing themselves the bad press. With entire websites dedicated to warning consumers to avoid them such as https://www.donttrustwag.com/ this proves to be yet another Softbank investment that is going down the drain. It's time to end the neglect that many pets have suffered under Wag's care.
